Men’s Captains Day 2024
Whalley Golf Club hosted the Men’s Captain’s Day on Saturday 27th July 2024. It was a fantastic event, with perfect weather, a pristine course and an enjoyable experience for everyone who attended.
A message from the Men’s Captain, Ben Graves
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for all your support on my Captain’s Day this year. Saturday provided a robust test of golf with favourable playing conditions and some challenging (ahem!) pins that tested the skills of most golfers. Despite my best efforts to make it tough, we saw some fantastic scores. Congratulations to Matt Bartle for his incredible Nett 66, finishing a full three shots ahead of second-place Steven Rosella, who carded an impressive 69, followed by several scores in the 70s. Well done to all the winners and everyone who participated.
It was wonderful to see so many golfers come out to play, and I appreciate those who also supported the evening BBQ and prize presentation. It truly was a great day – long but thoroughly enjoyable. My apologies to those who witnessed the dancing in the evening!
I would like to express my gratitude to Agnes Flannagan and Joyce Andrew for dedicating their Saturday to prepare the cards and check the results as they came in. Thanks to Nikki in the Pro Shop for all her assistance and a special thank you to Emma, Charlie and Bea for keeping everyone fed and watered at the halfway house. A big thank you to Julia for the constant supply of warm sausage rolls and to Oliver for the marvellous BBQ. I also appreciate Pete and Ryan for preparing the course, which, by all accounts, played very well. Finally, I would like to thank the Lady Captain for her unwavering support throughout the year and wish her well for her away day on the 5th to Knott End
